St. Germain Empress & Tonic
I think we all have our go-to beverages when we’re not experimenting with new, interesting cocktails. In the winter, I like an Old Fashioned. In the summer, I love a gin & tonic. It’s a simple drink but so damn good! Sometimes we just want something easy to make so we can sit back and relax. After a long day, an ice cold G & T just hits the spot! I’ve mentioned my recent love affair with Empress 1908 gin. Its indigo color elevates any cocktail and it tastes delicious as well. Empress has a recipe for an Empress & Elderflower, which is a gin & tonic made with elderflower flavored tonic water. I usually only have regular ole tonic water on hand so I decided to play with St. Germain to bring in that elderflower flavor. It’s a subtle adaptation but worthwhile! I love the grapefruit slice with the Empress gin rather than the traditional lime wedge. Bonus- the grapefruit soaks up the gin and is a much tastier garnish than lime!
