Hi!

Welcome to:

Bitters & Sweet

Let’s make some cocktails!

Charleston Fizz

Charleston Fizz

There are many drinks that call for gin, grapefruit juice, and elderflower liqueur. It’s such a great combination for summer when we are looking for something light and refreshing. The Charleston Fizz is a recipe I found on Saveur. It’s made with muddled French tarragon, which adds a peppery and subtle anise flavor. The Saveur recipe calls for an ounce of simple syrup but I felt that it made it a little too sweet. The second time I made it, I decided to omit it and liked the cocktail better. I feel that St. Germain provides enough sweetness and I like to taste the gin, especially my favorite Dingle gin from Ireland! I used store bought grapefruit juice. If you were to make this with fresh grapefruit juice, depending on the sweetness of your fruit, I’d reconsider adding simple syrup accordingly. The Charleston Fizz is a gorgeous cocktail to enjoy on a summer evening. Enjoy!
